Corrugated Box Manufacturers Association (CBMA) Singapore

18th Anniversary Dinner cum Seventh Moon Festival

CBMA of Singapore celebrated its 18th Birthday in style on the 24th August 2002. As usual, this anniversary event was held in conjunction with the Seventh Moon Festival (also known as the Ghost Festivity—a time of the year when ‘Hungry’ ghosts are permitted to roam the living world to be appeased with foods and street shows—so believed the local Chinese).

What is not so usual this time is a change of its venue to a relatively new and prestigious downtown hotel—The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.

As expected, there were full members’ supports, and together with our many oversea VIP guests, all of the 35 tables booked for the evening were completely taken up.

Besides the `glorious’ food and drinks for the evening, guests were entertained to a grand spectra of songs, dances, comedies and acrobatic show. Highlight of the evening was the much awaited `auctioning’ of good fortune articles, many of which were generously donated by our many oversea guests who came from far and near just to wish CBMA many happy returns, and to join in the fun and merry-making.

Such annual `auctioning’ forms one of the important sources of fund raising for our Association. And for this year, it was yet another record amount of fund raised to further enrich our Association’s coffer.

All in all, the 18th Anniversary Dinner was declared a memorable success!
