VISY MILL TOUR
We are pleased to announce Visy Industries ( Melbourne , Australia ) as the proud sponsor of the Global Corrugated / Containerboard Summit. ICCA/WCO will tour Visy's Tumut kraft pulp and paper mill on March 18, 2007. This mill is a major investment in the company's commitment to sustainable manufacturing. Completed in 2001, Visy's mill in Tumut , New South Wales adheres to the highest environmental standards, implementing new technologies and processes. A large proportion of the energy used in the mill is "green" energy, generated on site using greenhouse-friendly, bio-mass fuel such as bark and wood waste. It is among the lowest users of water of any similar mill in the world. The Tumut mill has enginnered an advanced concept with near-zero levels of effluent leaving the site, due to waste water from the mill being used to support an environmentally sustainable irrigation scheme.
